Holistic therapy in Los Angeles for women ready to come home to themselves
If you’re moving through life on autopilot, tense, tired, and silently holding it all together, know this: your body is not broken. It’s trying to protect you. I’m Chelsey Reese, a holistic therapist in Los Angeles specializing in trauma-informed care for women of color. My work blends somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, and ancestral healing to help you release survival patterns and reconnect with your inner wisdom. If you're seeking therapy that goes deeper than talk—and meets you where you truly are—you’ve come to the right place.
How it works
01
Start where you are—not where you think you “should” be
In our first call, we’ll unpack what your body has been carrying. Whether it’s overwhelm, disconnection, or emotional exhaustion, we’ll create space to explore how holistic therapy can support you. No pressure to have the “right words” or know exactly what you need. Just come as you are—we’ll go from there.
02
No scripts. Just what your body needs
Every session meets you in the moment. Whether you’re unraveling burnout, inner child wounds, or navigating a freeze response, we’ll move gently—letting your body lead the way. You don’t have to push through anymore. Together, we’ll slow down, soften, and listen deeply.
03
Where science meets soul
My approach blends proven, evidence-based practices with intuitive, body-led care. That includes Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, Relational Gestalt, and trauma-informed mindfulness. These techniques help you build safety in your body, understand the root of long-held patterns, and move forward with more clarity, self-trust, and regulation—without hustling for healing.

Somatic therapy
LEARN MORETalk therapy alone can’t always reach what your body remembers. Somatic therapy invites you to notice what’s happening inside—tight shoulders, a lump in your throat, a racing heart—and work with those sensations gently and intentionally. We’ll use breath, movement, and mindfulness to help your body feel safe enough to release, rest, and reconnect with itself.
Yoga and sound baths
LEARN MORESupport your team’s well-being. I offer trauma-informed yoga and sound healing sessions to help teams slow down, recharge, and reconnect. These practices create space for rest, regulation, and presence—right where it’s needed most.
Relational Gestalt therapy
LEARN MOREHealing happens in relationship.Relational Gestalt helps you notice how you show up in connection—with yourself and others. We explore emotions in the moment, strengthen awareness, and co-create safe connection in the therapy room that ripples into everyday life.
Nervous system regulation
LEARN MORERegulate, not suppress. Your nervous system isn’t the enemy—it just needs safety. In our work, we’ll build that safety together using polyvagal-informed techniques, movement, and attunement practices to shift out of fight-or-flight and into grounded presence.
Somatic trauma
LEARN MOREWhere the healing begins in your body. Somatic trauma therapy honors your body’s story—not just your mind’s. We use movement, sensation, and breath to gently release trauma from the nervous system. This process invites deep safety and allows long-held patterns to shift with compassion and care.
Sound meditation for anxiety
LEARN MORELet sound soften the noise within. Sound meditation uses vibrational healing tools—like singing bowls, chimes, and voice—to soothe your system. In these sessions, you’ll experience stillness, nervous system regulation, and emotional release through sound and breath.
Therapy for Black women
LEARN MOREYou deserve a space where you don’t have to explain your strength—or minimize your pain. My therapy work centers the lived experiences of Black women navigating survival mode, self-silencing, and chronic stress. This is a place to rest your armor, reconnect with your body, and begin healing on your terms.
Somatic yoga
LEARN MOREMovement as medicine. Somatic yoga is slow, intuitive movement designed to help you feel—not perform. These practices calm your nervous system, support emotional regulation, and invite you to land in your body with grace.
Black couples therapy
LEARN MOREBuild love rooted in safety. Couples therapy centered on Black love and culture. Together, we create a space to explore communication, repair ruptures, and deepen intimacy—with tools grounded in emotional safety and cultural awareness.
Corporate wellness programs
LEARN MOREWellness that’s built for real life. I offer trauma-informed corporate wellness services—like sound healing and nervous system education—for teams ready to center mental health, equity, and embodiment in their workplace.

Chelsey has been a mentor to me in many ways. She has a warm, patient, thoughtful presence that is consistent and unmoving, and the ability to closely contact whatever arises in a calm and non judgemental way that allows for connection. Highly recommend!

Chelsey and I recently led a group and I was in awe of her ability to hold space, give others feedback, and stay regulated throughout the course. Chelsey was a supportive, caring, and wonderful co-facilitator. I learned so much from her!

She's phenomenal. I've had a few different therapists during my mental health journey, but Chelsea is the first one to actually make me feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable. She reminds me that it's okay to acknowledge my feelings, instead of bottling them up in order to process the situation that brought that particular feeling up. I spent a long time feeling invisible; my sessions with Chelsea remind me that I'm here, and I matter. It feels good to feel seen and understood.

Frequently asked questions
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is an integrated and body-centered approach that focuses on the connection between your mind and body.
Somatic therapy helps you become more aware of physical sensations, emotions, and patterns in the body that are linked to stress, trauma, and emotional experiences.
How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy sessions are held over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Can I use my insurance for virtual therapy?
I currently do not accept insurance. I can provide a superbill for reimbursement and I do accept Loveland Vouchers.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I ask for at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel your session. Cancellations made less than 24 hours notice may incur a fee.
Somatic therapy vs talk therapy what’s the difference?
Talk therapy focuses on verbal processing, helping you understand emotions, thought patterns, and behaviors. It’s great for gaining insight and developing coping strategies.
Somatic therapy goes deeper by addressing how stress and trauma live in the body. Through breathwork, movement, and body awareness, it helps regulate the nervous system and release stored tension.
What does a somatic release feel like?
A somatic release is when the body lets go of stored stress or trauma. It can feel different for everyone, but common experiences include:
- Physical sensations – Deep sighs, yawning, warmth, tingling, or muscles softening.
- Emotional release – A sudden wave of sadness, relief, or even unexpected laughter.
- Energy shifts – A sense of lightness, subtle shaking, or a deep exhale as tension dissolves.
- Deep relaxation – Feeling more grounded, present, and at ease in your body.
Your body remembers what your mind tries to forget. Somatic therapy helps you gently integrate and release what has been stored.
How do I know if I need somatic therapy?
You might benefit from somatic therapy if you:
- Feel stuck in talk therapy, gaining insight but still experiencing the same emotional patterns.
- Carry chronic tension in your shoulders, chest, or jaw, even when you're not actively stressed.
- Struggle with anxiety, burnout, or overwhelm that feels more physical than mental.
- Find it hard to slow down and rest, feeling guilty or restless when you try.
- Have experienced trauma or emotional suppression and notice that certain triggers bring up body sensations rather than just thoughts.
If you’ve been pushing through stress, ignoring your body’s signals, or feeling disconnected from yourself, somatic therapy can help you regulate, release, and reconnect.
